about

S.O.A Entertainment is proud to announce the release of Stimulus, the first official album released by the label’s main crew - Shottaz. Hailed as New Zealand’s premiere dancehall collective, the Shottaz have recently been on a slow grind due to a number of significant changes within the ranks. From enduring the relocation of a member to the transition into parenthood for another, the crew has experienced growth in various aspects of life. This growth is evidenced on this project by a change of style, content, and attitude.

Stimulus showcases the Shottaz’ versatility as it kicks of with ‘Hustle’, a self explanatory, punchy dancehall tune produced by S.O.A’s in-house producer Fantom. What follows is a collection of songs that cover a variety of themes, explored over a selection of instrumentals that range from roots reggae to hip hop influenced dancehall. The lead single Can’t Stop Me, which features backing vocals by up-coming songstress Aicy, boasts a melodic riddim overlaid by positive lyrics about the crew staying true to their values. Another notable tune on this release is the closing track Good Vibes, surprisingly the only party track on this project, undoubtedly a first for the Shottaz as they are renowned for their party vibes. This release is one definitely not to be missed as it not only marks the official return to business for the Shottaz, but also announces the arrival of S.O.A’s riddim building maestro, Fantom. Aicy also makes a number of other appearances, and guest producers are; High Stakes Records and Heart Offishall for Newtown Sound.

S.O.A Entertainment and Shottaz welcome any support in the way of reviews, interviews, radio play, and bookings.
